La historia de la improvisacion teatral es relativamente reciente. Sin embargo, en los pocos anos que lleva dando vueltas, ya ha comenzado a mostrar signos de evolucion constante.

Hace 15 anos eran impensados los formatos largos, y hoy pueblan las carteleras de las principales ciudades del mundo. Pero como siempre hay gente dispuesta a seguir rompiendo moldes, los nuevos formatos aparecen constantamente para traer aires nuevos a la impro mundial.

EL PUBLICO IMPROVISA
Matt Holmes es un improvisador de la ciudad de Philadelphia (EE.UU.) que desde 2008 presenta Matt&, un espectaculo en el que comparte escenario con un miembro del publico. "Es much trabajo, todo el tiempo, pero es un buen desafio. Es tambien una especie de proyecto solitario. Antes y despues del show, estoy solamente yo," cuenta Matt.

El espectaculo, basado en juegos y escena cortas, fluye de la experimentada mano de Holmes, quien confiesa que por momentos se hace dificil, pero "es realmente muy divertido. Toma la idea de la impro y la expande. Es realmente improvisado."

Ante le imposibilidad de entrenar el show, Matt se focalizo en los aspectos tecnicos del espectaculo. "He trabajado con expertos en dialectos, clown, movimiento, y otros elementos que surgieran," aclara.

"Me encanta recibir una 'bola curva' de parte de mi companero; es una oportunidad de mostrar que tan rapido y listo puedo ser," confiesa, orgulloso.

"He tenido shows en donde mi companero es timido al principio pero luego se abre y juega. Ha pasado que un companero se fue del escenario. He sido forzado a bailar, cantar, deletrear un poema de amor, y, lo mas dificil, he tenido que ser yo mismo por un minuto en lugar de interpretar un personaje," recuerda.

The history of theatrical improvisation is relatively recent. However, in the few years since, it has already begun to show signs of constant evolution.

15 years ago, long formats were unthinkable, and today they populate billboards in major cities of the world. But there are always people willing to continue to break new ground, new formats are constantly bringing new life into the world of improv.

IMPROV WITH THE PUBLIC
Matt Holmes is an improviser in the city of Philadelphia (USA) who, since 2008, presents Matt&, a show in which he shares the stage with an audience member. "It's a lot of work all the time, but a good challenge. It's also a kind of solo project. Before and after the show, it's just me," says Matt.

The spectacle, based on games and short scenes, flows from the experienced hand of Holmes, who admits that at times it becomes difficult, but "it's really fun. It takes the idea of improv and expands it. It's really really improvised."

Given the imposibility of practicing the show, Matt focused on the technical aspects of the show. "I have worked with experts in dialects, clowning, movement, and other topics that could arise," he notes.

"I love getting a 'curve ball' from my companion, it is a chance to show how fast and ready I can be," he confesses proudly.

"I've had shows where my companion is shy at first but then opens up and plays. It's happened that a companion left the stage. I have been forced to dance, sing, create a love poem, and, most difficult, I had to be myself for a minute instead of playing a character," he recalls.
